About Us
Carol Porter is a quilt maker, designer, teacher and author who has turned her passion for the functional creativity of quilt making into an art form and enterprise. She is recognized around the world for the strength of her colorwash designs and the quality of her workmanship. Her designs have been incorporated into more than a dozen popular and easy-to-use quilt patterns under the Heatherworks label.
Carol began her quilting adventures in 1979. She has since co-authored two books including Patchwork Pantry: Preserving a Tradition, published by That Patchwork Place in 1996. She teaches and lectures extensively on a variety of quilt-making topics and conducts workshops throughout the United States.
Carol recently served on a design team that developed the QuiltCut fabric cutting system in association with Altos EZ Mat. The product adds precision and speed to the process of cutting fabric. It is widely hailed by quilt makers regardless of experience or skill level.
Currently, Carol is designing projects and demonstrating the many wonderful tools and techniques for Clover Needlecraft Incorporated and has been promoted to Education Director for the company.
